## Our Senegalese Sarr

> Ismaïla Sarr became the club’s third signing of the 2024/25 summer transfer window after joining on a five-year deal from Olympique de Marseille.

The 26-year-old attacker possesses plenty of experience of English football, having spent four years at Watford – recording 34 goals and 22 assists in 131 games – prior to joining Marseille, whom he helped reach the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League last season.

Sarr's career began in French football with Metz, before moving to Rennes and leading the club into Europe, as well as winning their first Coupe de France in almost half a century.

At international level, he has been a mainstay of the Senegal national side, earning 64 caps, scoring 13 goals and winning the Africa Cup of Nations in 2021.

His career has also been defined by his eye for the spectacular, having won Goal of the Season awards in both the Football League and the Europa League.

Sarr was ever-present in every Premier League matchday squad in his first season at the club, playing in all 38 games, while also featuring in a further nine cup games. He scored 11 goals across all competitions, with eight additional assists - including a stunning effort against rivals Brighton & Hove Albion and a brace against Aston Villa in the FA Cup semi-final.

Palace's meeting with Chelsea in January has a new date and kick-off time. Originally scheduled for Saturday 24th January, it will now take place on **Sunday, 25th January 2026, at 14:00 GMT.**

The Eagles' trip to the Midlands to face Nottingham Forest a week later has also been rescheduled.

Palace will head to the City Ground on **Sunday, 1st February 2026 for a 14:00 GMT kick-off.** That game was originally set for Saturday, 31st January, but has been moved due to Forest's European fixture the preceding Thursday.

**Both of these matches will also be broadcast live in the United Kingdom, via Sky Sports.**

Having only penned his scholarship over the summer, the 17-year-old has already become a near ever-present in Javier Alonso’s Under-18s, featuring in all 12 matches this season.

Martin began his football journey later than most, starting at the age of 10. After three years with Carshalton Athletic and a season at Croygas, he moved to Sutton United, where he impressed by scoring twice in a friendly against Palace.

He joined the Academy at U15 level in 2023/24 from the Category Three side and made an immediate impact, notching over 30 goals in his first campaign.

In 24/25, he captained the U16s and maintained his excellent form with 27 goals, earning a step up to the U18s earlier this year. He debuted off the bench against Norwich City, scored in the following match at Aston Villa, and struck again versus West Ham – finishing the season with six appearances and two goals.

Alongside his involvement with the U18s, he also trained with Darren Powell’s U21s on occasion.

This season, he netted a stunning curling strike in Palace’s 8-0 win over Ipswich, receiving an October Goal of the Month nomination.

Upon signing his professional contract, Donte said: “It’s not something I expected for myself so soon – but it’s happened.

“To be playing at Crystal Palace, in South London… I’m from south, so it means the world to play here. It’s every boy’s dream to be in a position like mine, so I’ll take it with both hands.”

Academy Director Gary Issott added: “Donte joined us at U15 level and has impressed every step of the way. He had a particularly prolific campaign with the U16s last season, and he has adapted quickly to life in the U18s this year, scoring three times in five starts so far.

“A talented forward with an eye for goal, it’s exciting to see how he continues to develop under our coaching team and what he can achieve in the seasons ahead.”

The Spain international, who featured twice for his country over the international break to help the 2010 World Cup winners secure their place at next summer’s finals, says he is convinced the Eagles’ dressing room has all the ingredients required to build on this year’s FA Cup and Community Shield successes.

Pino said of his summer switch to South London: “I sat down with the coach [Oliver Glasner], and he explained to me the plan, and what I had been doing last year, and he convinced me from the first moment. 

“I arrived at a winning club. Last year they had a fantastic season: they won two titles.

“I’ve come here and I’ve joined a winning team, a competitive team, with a lot of hunger, and what we are showing in every game, in every competition. The coach has made it clear that we can do big things. I hope it continues like this.

“We have the two Cups, the Conference League and the Premier League, and we treat each game as a final. In terms of adaptation, with Dani [Muñoz], Jeff [Lerma], Walter [Benítez] and many other teammates, they have made it very easy for me. I am very happy to be here, and to be able to add to the team.”

Palace return to Premier League action away to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday afternoon, and 23-year-old Pino has admitted that adapting to the competition has placed new demands on him as a player.

“Everyone knows the league we're talking about,” he said. “I think it's the best league in the world, physically, tactically… it's incredible. People go all out.

“I feel in the best moment of my career physically. I’ve had a tough time in the last few years with injuries, but today I have a lot of respect for the Premier League, and the truth is that I feel very good.

“I think I'm working to be better, and more adapted to the pace that this league is played at, but the truth is that I'm very happy to be able to be part of this league, and with this group that really wants to win, and is full of ambition.”

Having now qualified, Spain will be among the favourites in the 48 teams participating at next summer’s World Cup finals in North America, and Pino smiled: “In Spain, football is lived, football is breathed, and in recent years we've been doing very well, we've brought through players of great quality, young players.

“We have a fantastic group, and the coach has created a family within that group. 

"In the end, the World Cup is very important for us – we want to take Spain to the top. Like we did in the Euros \[2024\], now we want to do it in the World Cup, and that's our goal.

“We don't want to think that we're the favourites, not at all, because Colombia, Argentina, England… there are many very good teams. We're going to fight against them in order to take Spain as high as possible.”
